Rev. Joseph Veneto, Served at Quincy, Plymouth Churches Patriot Ledger January 27, 1998 MILTON -- The Rev. Joseph P. Veneto, 79, of Milton, whose 42 years in the priesthood included assistant pastorships in Plymouth and Quincy, died Saturdayafter a long illness. The Rev. Veneto served at St. Mary's Church in Plymouth from 1947 to 1950 and at St. Boniface Church in Quincy from 1957 to 1963. He was born in Boston. He graduated from Boston College in 1942. He was ordained June 14, 1946 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston by Cardinal Richard J. Cushing. The Rev. Veneto was appointed as an assistant pastor at St. Mary's Church in Salem. He later served at St. Ann's Church in Gloucester, St. Ann's Church in Somerville and Immaculate Conception in Malden. He became pastor of St. Peter's Church in Malden in 1972 and pastor of St. Anthony of Padua in Revere in 1975. He retired in 1988. He is survived by a brother, Dominic M. Veneto of Quincy; two sisters, Mary J. Cornaro of North Easton and Anna M. Zelvis of Dorchester; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Agatha's Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Jamaica Plain. The Rev. Veneto will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Regina Cleri in Boston. Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Alfred D.
