Father Paul F. Dinan, 84, of Paxton, died Friday (Dec. 6, 1996) at his home after a short illness.
Father Dinan served at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Kankakee from 1954-66.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paxton and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with Masses or gifts to St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Church in Loda.
Arrangements are being handled by the Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton.
Father Dinan was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Peoria to Francis and Louise Gates Dinan.
He attended St. Mary Grade School and Spalding School in Peoria, St. Bede College in Peru, St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in St. Louis and Kenrick Seminary in Webster Grove, Mo.
Father Dinan was ordained a priest in Peoria on June 6, 1937.
Along with St. Teresa's, Father Dinan served at St. Mary's Church in Canton from 1937-39; St. John Church in Peoria from 1939-43; St. Mary in Paxton from 1943-54; and St. Peter the Apostle in Itasca from 1966-72.
Father Dinan returned to Paxton in 1973-75, came back to Paxton again in 1977, retired on Dec. 1, 1980, and made his home in Paxton.
He recently was honored by having St. Mary's Parish Center named the Paul F. Dinan Parish Center.
Surviving are three cousins.
Father Dinan was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus St. Viator Council in Kankakee.
