Fr. Robert H. Chabak
Removed from St. Valentine in Bloomfield in 11/2004 due to an allegation that he abused a boy for three years, starting when the boy was age 15 and Chabak was assigned to St. Mary of the Assumption in Elizabeth. Named Monsignor in 1998. Retired per 2009-2012 Catholic Directories. Had been living in a rectory after Hurricane Sandy with permission from the Archdiocese until public pressure forced his removal in 2/2013. On Archdiocese’s list 2/13/2019. Multiple allegations noted. Permanently removed from ministry. Accused in a 12/2019 suit of abusing a boy, age 13 or 14, at Christ the King in Hillside 1983-1984.
