Causes and Context Study
Interim Report
John Jay College of Criminal Justice
The City University of New York
November 17, 2009
On November 17, 2009, Margaret Smith and Karen Terry, of the John
Jay College of Criminal Justice, presented an Interim Report on the
Causes and Context Study commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops. The researchers did not release a report, but they did share
a printout of the slides from their presentation. Below we
provide a PDF of the slide handout, together with the USCCB's press
release and two articles on the Interim Report. These materials
are helpful for understanding the evolution of the Causes and Context
effort, which began with the Bennett
Report, released in February 2004 along with the Nature
and Scope report.
