The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle and a Benedictine abbey have settled four more sex-abuse claims against the Rev. John Forrester, a Benedictine priest who had served in the Seattle area.
In their lawsuit, the four plaintiffs said Forrester started abusing them in the 1970s when they were minors and parishioners at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle, where Forrester was assigned. The settlement for $1.41 million was reached shortly before Thanksgiving, said plaintiffs' attorney James S. Rogers.
Forrester, who died in 2002, has been the subject of previous lawsuits. In 2005, the archdiocese and St. Benedict's Abbey, based in Atchison, Kan., settled with seven people for $2.6 million.
