HARRY DEAN WALKER was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on April 15,
1934, a son of Francis and Margaret (Lewis) Walker. He received
his early education from Mary C. I. Williams, St. Paul's Elementary,
and Salesianum School, Wilmington, Delaware. He attended college
at Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Maryland. He began studies
for the priesthood at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, and after
completion of theological studies there, was ordained on May 27,
1961, at St. Peter's Cathedral, Wilmington, Delaware, by Bishop
Edward J. Schlotterbach, O.S.F.S. He was first assigned as associate
pastor to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Perryville, Maryland.
In 1963 he was transferred as associate pastor to St. Michael the
Archangel Church, Georgetown, Delaware. In 1964 he was sent to pursue
social studies at Boston College. In 1967 he was appointed assistant
director of Catholic Social Services. In 1968 he was appointed administrator
of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Pocomoke City, Maryland, and three
months later was assigned to serve as administrator of St. Mary’s
Church, Wilmington, Delaware. In 1969 he became administrator of
St. Paul's Church, Wilmington, Delaware, and in 1970 administrator
of St. Patrick’s Church, Wilmington, Delaware. He withdrew
from active ministry in 1972,and now lives in Wilmington, Delaware.
