If you are upset about child abuse and the allegations of sexual harassment in the Catholic Church, Join Us If you have put your faith aside out of disgust with the lack of proper Church reaction, Join us. If you are angry with the lies, coverup, rotational policies and denials, Join Us with this simple message: Not 1 Dime more in the collection plate- Join us in this call for action!

1.  We Want the Roman Catholic Church to be respected around the world.  Our goal is to restore the Church to relevance. Our demand is the implementation of practice and  policy consistent with moral standards and decency expected by the Church faithful - we know what is right.

 

2.  We want the First Person Called when there is an accusation carries a gun and a badge.

 

3. US Bishop set policies and practices that directly address the issue:

   a. Sexual Harassment Training equal to that of the US Military or Government    Agencies (I  have to go through certified training every 2 years as a Water Board    member.  

   b. Lay oversight committee to review cases of abuse and set that they are properly        adjudicated 

    c. Internal Policies that make it easy to report bad behavior that maintain the reality of        “Innocent Until Proven Guilty”

Fellow Catholics, starting the first day of Advent, December 2, 2018 join Not 1 Dime and place 9 cents, (a nickel and 4 pennies) in the collection basket during Mass. We also encourage people to mail the same to Pope Francis, and every Bishop, Priest, Cardinal with a letter stating the above.

  

We recommend that anyone who participates in Not 1 Dime start their own personal Escrow Account with the money they would normally give to the Church.  If appropriate actions are taken the money can be given at a later date.  If the response is unsatisfactory the money could be donated to help victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking.

Below is a sample letter.  Use it as you wish.  If you write your own letter please send it to us.  We may want to share other letter options that deliver our message.

  

Dear Bishop XXX  www.not1dime.com is an effort deliver a clear message to the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church. My name is XXX and I am profoundly disappointed by the lack consequential action by you and the rest of the American Bishops regarding the ongoing allegations of child abuse and sexual harassment in the Roman Catholic Church. 

Until American Bishops and Pope Francis act to end the abuse, I will not give one dime more in the collection plate at Mass. I and many other like-minded Catholics believe it is long overdue we deliver a clear message to the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church. We are not requesting another meeting, conference, or discussion on the topic. 

-We demand specific simple and specific actions to address abuse of innocents. 

-We want the Church to be respected around the world.  

-We want to restore the Church to relevance and demand the implementation of practices and policies consistent with the highest maintain standards and decency expected by people everywhere. 

Swift and decisive action against those who abuse children is the only acceptable answer. 

1. We demand that the First Person Called when there is an accusation against a Bishop or Priest, carries a gun and a badge. Law enforcement knows how to deal with sex crimes. Let them do their job. 

2. We demand US Bishop set policies and practices that directly address the issue:
 

a. Sexual Harassment Training equal to that of the US Military or Government Agencies be required for all ordained ministers and anyone who works within the Church 

b. Lay oversight committee to review cases of abuse and see that they are properly adjudicated  

c. Internal Policies that make it easy to report bad behavior while maintaining the belief that everyone is “Innocent Until Proven Guilty” 

I will withhold my contribution save a nickel and four pennies until actions are taken. I will set my donation aside in what amounts to an Escrow Account. As soon as I see real progress by the American Bishops, I will give what I have saved, and I will renew my contributions. Please don’t delay in acting. The abuse that has too long been ignored and covered up is a threat to the Church.

If consequential and effective action is not taken, the future of the Church will be one of decline and irrelevance. We need your leadership and support as we work to heal our Church.
