In his America article, “The Media Ministry”, Jesuit priest James Martin (we do not call priests “Father” because of many reason, more on that later) (intentionally?) omits the Los Angeles Times regarding the “sexual abuse crisis” (he does not mention “priests and clergy” or who committed the abuse). Martin wrote, “Boston Globe ran its extensive series of articles on the sexual abuse crisis in the early 2000s…The National Catholic Reporter ran a remarkable series of articles on abuse in the 1990s….”   James Martin knows his colleagues the Jesuits contemporary history very well – and he knows that it was the Los Angeles Times and NOT the Boston Globe or NCR -- who were the first investigative reporters on clergy sexual abuse.  The reason for his intentional journalistic omission can only be this.   There is one thing the Los Angeles Times – valiantly say in their reportage about the Jesuits (which the Boston Globe probably has never done).   The LA Times called the Jesuits-pedophiles especially in Los Gabos as “sex crimes by the Jesuits” – the harshest ever in the secular media.  The Los Angeles Times unequivocally, explicitly, unambiguously, clearly define them as “the sex crimes by Jesuits” in their news articles.  Not Dominican or Franciscan or Martian -- but sex crimes by the Jesuits! These are mighty words of slap on the Jesuits’ faces!  There was no two-way or confusion whodunit about those sexual abuse series…committed for decades (years, years, years BEFORE Boston Globe 2002 as portrayed in movie Spotlight).
