Priest Confesses to Sexually Abusing Boy in Jones Co.

A priest is charged with sexual battery in Jones County after he confessed.

Father Jose Vazquez's bond was set at $100,000, WJTV reported. Authorities said that the 36-year-old priest works in Stone County.

The victim’s father called the sheriff's dept. on Sept. 9. and said there was inappropriate behavior between his 12-year-old son and Father Jose Vazquez. Vazquez was still at the scene when deputies arrived. He was taken into custody and confessed to multiple acts of sexual battery with the victim. He said one of the acts happened in Jones County and the other acts took place elsewhere.

He is only charged with one count of sexual battery in Jones County at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
