Retired Priest Accused of Sexual Abuse

A retired priest with the Grand Rapids Diocese was removed from the ministry over accusations of sexual abuse.

The Diocese issued a statement Friday saying it was approached by a victim regarding alleged incidents in the mid 1980's with the Reverend Charles Antekeier at Saint James Parish in Grand Rapids.

Bishop David Walkowiak released a statement saying, "I want to express my deepest apologies to any children, young people and their families who have been abused by members of the clergy in the Diocese of Grand Rapids, while there are no words that can heal such wounds, I humbly ask for forgiveness for the pain and injury you and your families have suffered."
