The Age Posts "Die Pell" Facebook Status

The Age is investigating how an offensive comment about George Pell was published to its Facebook page.

Two separate sources have told Neil Mitchell a link to the newspaper's coverage of the Royal Commission into Child Abuse was posted along with the words 'Die Pell'.

The below screenshot was also sent to 3AW.

It's not yet known how it was posted.

Editor Andrew Holden said the post was live for about one hour.

"We're trying to find out (how it was posted)," Holden told Neil Mitchell.

"At this stage I assume it's a hacker, but I don't know absolutely."
