The B.C. Supreme Court has found no evidence that a woman suing John Furlong on allegations of sexual assault at Immaculata Elementary in Burns Lake ever attended the school, dismissing her claim.

In a decision published Tuesday, Justice Miriam Gropper said Grace West did not stick with the same story the whole time during proceedings in court.

The woman had initially claimed she attended the school in 1969 and 1970, when Furlong was a volunteer teacher there.

But then her story changed, several times. At one point, she was “unable to recall the name of the school she attended when she alleges she was taught by Mr. Furlong.”

Then, she said she attended the school for 13 years, from 1964 to 1977.

“At other times in the examination for discovery she said she had attended Immaculata for only one year when she was six years old and in kindergarten,” Gropper wrote in her decision.
