Warsaw, Poland.- Dominican Republic’s top prosecutor on Monday stressed to Polish authorities the importance for both countries to exact strong punishment against Catholic priest Wojciech Waldamar Gil (Padre Alberto), charged with sexually abusing at least 7 Dominican boys and similar accusations in Poland.
Francisco Dominguez said there should “never be impunity" in child abuse cases linked to religious figures. "We’ve met with the lawyers of the victims named in the Polish justice; we’ve expressed the same view to them."
He conveyed Dominican Republic’s satisfaction with the Polish authorities’ support in the case against Gil.
In a press conference in Warsaw, Dominguez thanked his Polish counterpart Andrzej Seremet and the prosecution team “for the effort, for their professionalism, willingness and cooperation with the case.”
The official has been in Warsaw since Thursday when he met with Polish Attorney General Andrzej Seremet, as well as with Malgorzata Adamajtys, lead prosecutor in the case against Gil.
