Whazat? Gonzo, Jim Trenary Automotive Group’s g.m., fired heir apparent Kyle Trenary for alleged excessive tardiness coming to work and sales meetings. Kyle now serves Plaza Jaguar. On Jim Trenary in a recent St. L. Biz Journal interview: “He never really wanted his sons to get into the car business because it’s tough”. . .Half of today’s NY Times op ed page deals with the Ferguson situation. One piece, “Black Town, White Power,” is authored by ex-State Sen. Jeff Smith. And columnist Charles Blow weighs in too, who notes that “The discussion about issues in the black community too often revolves around a false choice” system bias OR poor personal choices. In fact these factors are interwoven like the fingers of clasped hands. . .Our town’s Mark Hyman has a 92 year-old Packard and the collector/car dealer is entering it in the Mazda Raceway Laguna (Calif.). . .A Kansas City judge upheld a $1.1 million award to 42 clergy sex abuse victims in an unprecedented “breach of contract” case against Bishop Robert Finn, who hails from our town. The suit charged Finn violated a 2008 settlement which included non-economic abuse prevention commitments. The only other case in the U.S. is a pending one against the Jesuits over the alleged abuse of a student by Fr. Daniel C. O’Connell, a former St. Louis University president. . .Tongues still wag about KSDK’s apology for showing the video of the Ferguson Police officer’s home in a 5 p.m. newscast. The station then pulled the video of the home on future newscasts and its website.
