Counselling service expands hours after Tuam babies revelations

Connect Counselling is expanding its opening hours for the next six weeks to open seven days a week. The move is being made in response to the recent public attention on the Tuam Babies revelations and subsequent plans for a Mother and Baby Homes Inquiry. Connect offers a free telephone-based counselling service to victims of abuse, trauma or neglect at institutions. It normally opens Wednesday to Sunday, but until the end of July it will operate from 6pm to 10pm seven nights a week. The freephone number is 1800 477 477 from the Republic of Ireland, and 00800 477 477 77 from the North.
