1. #FINAL COUNTDOWN: With local election counts resuming around the country, Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin, and Independent/Other candidates have close to 100 seats each, ahead of Fine Gael with 79 and Labour with just 20. Here’s the latest list of who has been elected.
2. #NEW TDS: In the by-elections, Ruth Coppinger of the Socialist Party took a seat in Dublin West while Fine Gael’s Gabrielle McFadden comfortably topped the poll in Longford-Westmeath. It brings the number of female TDs in the Dáil to a record high of 27.
3. #OFF TO EUROPE: The counts will get underway this morning for the European Parliament elections, with an RTE exit poll showing Sinn Féin look set to win two seats, along with Independent Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan and the Green Party’s Eamon Ryan.
4. #ISLA VISTA: A student who killed six people in California has been named by police as 22-year-old Elliot Rodger. The student posted a video on YouTube beforehand vowing to punish women who had rejected and ignored him.
5. #MASS GRAVE: A mass grave beside a former home for unmarried mothers may contain the bodies of almost 800 babies, reports the front page of the Irish Mail on Sunday. As many as 796 children are believed to have been interred in the concrete tank in Tuam in Galway between 1925 and 1961.
6. #ROADS: A man in his 20s has died after his motorbike hit a pole in Tallaght in Dublin last night. Gardaí said the motorbike was taken from the scene before they arrived to investigate.
7. #BON VOYAGE: Pope Francis has arrived in Bethlehem as he continues his three-day tour of the Middle East. He will meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas today and hold and open-air mass, the BBC reports.
8. #UKRAINE: Voters in Ukraine will go to the polls to elect a new president today amid fears of confrontations over the vote, with separatists vowing to disrupt the poll in the east of the country.
9. #GOOOOOOAL: Real Madrid have won the Champions League for the 10th time after three goals in extra-time denied Atlético Madrid a win in what was a dramatic match. Here’s how it all played out.
