Allegations of physical and sexual abuse by leaders of a religious sect have led the OPP to lay multiple charges against two men. And the allegation first came to light in a documentary done by CTV’s investigative program, W5.
The charges come after a sixteen month police investigation. The church the two men belong to is called the Church of Jesus Christ Restored and it is located near Chatsworth.
Police say there are seven victims and all were member of the church when the alleged offences happened. Some go back as far as the late 1970’s.
Fifty-nine year old Judson William King has been arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering a death threat.
Police are still looking for 55-year-old Frederick Madison King who was the self-proclaimed prophet of the church. He has been charged with assault, sexual exploitation, assault causing bodily harm, uttering death threats and assault with a weapon.
The police investigation began three days after the investigative report by W5 aired. The documentary told the story of the church and allegations of abuse from the point of view of a woman who says she was assaulted and suffered emotional abuse over many years, before fleeing the congregation.
We do not know yet, if that woman is one of the alleged victims in the police investigation.
Judson William King, who lives now in Oakville, will be in court in May.
