KSDK’s Art Holliday had a bursted appendix just before his exit to Sochi. . .Ch. 5 sports anchor Rene Knott has lost some overdupois due to a lung problem, say insiders. . .Kathy Federico is becoming a new board member of the Zoo. She shares the mattress with hub Bob Federico, owner of Federico Chrysler in Wood River. She’s the heiress to car mogul Jack Schmitt and is g.m. of the Jack Schmitt Automotive Group. . .”Juno” star Ellen Page came out gay: “I’m tired of lying by omission.” Her next movie, “X Men: Days of the Future Past”. . . Early this week, bombastic attorney Terry Crouppen was interviewed on KSDK about being dunned unnecessarily by debt collectors. When asked what should be done in such instances, he said, “Go to our Attorney General Chris Koster. He’s a terrific attorney general.” In other words, sic the dogs on them. Brown & Crouppen is now advertising using semi-comedic Judge Joe Brown. In some advertising, Brown & Crouppen touts it’s “the winningest law firm.” Not quite true. Crouppen’s puffery stems from the fact that records of the Missouri Lawyers Weekly show that Brown & Crouppen was named as ONE of Missouri’s winningest. Other firms earned the distinction as well. . .Today’s New York Times reports that a Catholic priest, nun and a small number of Kansas City parishioners are formally appealing to Pope Francis to discipline Bishop Robert Finn, who hails from our town. Later this year, Finn’s two-year probation will end. He was convicted in 2012 of failing to report child sex crimes by Fr. Shawn Ratigan to police.
