On Sunday morning, Rabbi Aminadav Krispin, 80, chief rabbi of the town of Kiryat Bialyk was acquitted in magistrate court in Haifa of all charges against him of sexual harassment and sex crimes. Judge Zaid Falach acquitted Rabbi Krispin completely on one charge and for reasonable doubt on three other charges. The question now is how soon will the two major Jewish shmootz sites, “Failed Messiah” and Jewish survivors of Sexual Violence” take full measures to clear Rabbi Krispin’s name. “Failed” and “Survivors” have been vending sexual titillation to their readers, both Jewish and gentile (including many White Power sites that find there confirmation of their worst prejudices against Jews and their rabbis). The “Survivors” blog maintain extensive lists of Jewish clergy who have been charged—by someone, not necessarily the law, just an accuser, often anonymous—of sexual abuse. It’s a well known fact that it’s a lot easier to get on those lists than off them. The “Survivors” website has the acquitted rabbi’s name on its list of Alleged and Convicted Cases of Spiritual Abuse in Jewish Communities. It also has a link to an old Ha’aretz story on “Rabbi Krispin: Rabbi Mahluf Aminadav Krispin-73-year-old Rabbi Arrested on Sex Assault Charges,” with damning copy&paste text. There’s also “Rabbi of northern town detained on sexual assault charges.” Now that you have the URL address for the list and the reports of the allegations, I urge you to visit the site to observe whether the acquitted rabbi’s name has been removed. Let’s start the countdown….. now. “Failed Messiah” Shmarya Rosenberg had a particularly exciting dance over Rabbi Krispin’s body, since he was able to nail two enemies with one stone: rabbis and Lubavitch, with his headline: “Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Bialik Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges – Signed ‘Pesak Din’ in 1997 Declaring the Late Lubavitcher Rebbe the Messiah.” Earlier this year, Shmarya ran this enthusiastic story: “Chief Rabbi Of Kiryat Bialik Charged With Sexual Harassment, Witness Tampering,” accompanied by the sub-headline: “The rabbi signed a religious ruling declaring the late Rebbe the messiah after his death, and is the husband of a granddaughter of the Baba Sali.” That’s throwing schmootz on three favorite targets in one story. So now, let’s monitor Shmarya’s website and see whether he even mentions the acquittal, and in what way does he show that the acquitted rabbi is still guilty but somehow managed to squeeze free, like all the Orthodox Jews are known to do.
