The Special Commission into child sexual abuse in the New South Wales Hunter Valley is this morning expected to hear from the commander of the police Sex Crimes Squad.
Abuse whistleblower Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox has spent nearly four full days in the witness box and will appear again today.
His claims about being directed by his superiors to stop investigating allegations of child sexual abuse by two priests led to the commission.
The commander of the NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec is scheduled to give evidence first today, followed by Detective Fox.
Yesterday, Detective Fox told the court he put himself and his family through hell campaigning for a national royal commission into child sexual abuse.
Earlier this week, the inquiry heard Detective Fox had sent police documents to local Fairfax journalist Joanne McCarthy, when he thought they had not been forwarded to the squad as promised by senior colleagues.
The inquiry is yet to hear from Ms McCarthy, who has been described by Detective Fox as his "informant".
The public hearings began on Monday and will continue next week.
