The FBI reported Monday that it tracked down a Kansas City, Mo., pastor wanted for child molestation and child sodomy to an eastern New Orleans home this weekend.
George Spencer, 48, was arrested Friday in connection with an arrest warrant from Missouri. Spencer, who is a convicted rapist from a 1998 incident, is accused of raping another girl in February while working as an associate pastor at the Greater Works CME Church in Kansas City.
Authorities did not release information on what Spencer was doing in New Orleans, or whether he was involved in any local churches.
Motorcyclist killed
in crash identified
New Orleans — A 19-year-old man who died after colliding with an SUV on Sunday night was identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Monday.
Toddrick Franklin died when his motorcycle collided with a Nissan Murano near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Lonely Oak Drive around 7:19 p.m. Police said the SUV was making a left turn onto to Lonely Oak Drive when Franklin’s motorcycle struck it while he was traveling westbound.
Franklin was ejected from the bike and died on the scene. No citations were issued.
Man’s skull fractured in robbery, police say
New Orleans — Police are searching for three young men who fractured a man’s skull during a robbery Sunday morning. The incident was reported at 4 a.m. near Chartres and Mandeville streets in the French Quarter.
Police said the victim was approached by what appeared to be three juvenile males, who demanded his property. When the man refused, one of boys hit him in the head with a bottle, cutting his face and fracturing his skull, police said.
Police seek suspect in stabbing of man
New Orleans — Police are searching for a man who stabbed a 29-year-old man Sunday night in eastern New Orleans.
Police said the incident was reported around 7:35 p.m. in the 10000 block of Dwyer road.
The victim said he was walking in the area when a strange man walked up to him and stabbed him in the chest. The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
Man, 30, carjacked
in front of home
New Orleans — A 30-year-old Algiers man was carjacked while moving his girlfriend’s car Saturday morning.
The man reported the incident about 2 a.m. Police said the victim was moving the car in the 6100 block of Tullis Drive when a man dressed in black came up to him and demanded the keys to the vehicle.
Another man wearing a red sweatshirt was holding a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet, police said. The two men left in two vehicles with another person.
Burglary reported soon after killing
New Orleans — About 40 minutes after a homicide was reported at an eastern New Orleans apartment complex, another man reported a home invasion in the same neighborhood.
Both incidents were reported in the 5100 block of Bundy Road on Saturday afternoon.
The homicide was reported at 2:50 p.m. while the home invasion was reported at 3:30 p.m.
In the burglary, three men were at the residence when a 20-year-old man was forced inside at gunpoint by two armed men. The men demanded cash and then fled.
Marrero man, 38,
says he lied to state
Baton Rouge — A Marrero businessman admitted lying to state officials about how he conducted his asbestos training courses.
Marc Victoriano, 38, pleaded guilty Monday to filing false forms with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
Victoriano operated Professional Safety Consultants. In 2009, he lied to state officials about how many accredited instructors he had teaching asbestos training courses. He was arrested in 2010 and was sentenced to one-year probation and a $3,000 fee for the cost of the investigation. The fine for the crime was $100.
