WORCESTER — The co-founder and second-in-command pastor of the Church of the End Times in Uxbridge pleaded guilty Thursday to resisting arrest, but won’t serve any more jail time.
Dennis H. Stanley, 36, most recently of 41 Murphy’s Way, Uxbridge, was sentenced in Worcester Central District Court by Judge Janet McGuiggan to 60 days in the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction but received credit for the 60 days already served after he was held without bail Nov. 2.
One charge for violating a restraining order taken out by his estranged wife, Beth Ellen Stanley, was dismissed.
Mr. Stanley had been charged in Uxbridge District Court with resisting arrest and violating a restraining order after police attempted to serve the restraining order on him on Oct. 1. When police arrived at the home Mr. Stanley shared then with his wife, Mr. Stanley and his brother, David H. Stanley, 40, locked themselves indoors with several teenage girls who were members of their church and created a disturbance.
The restraining order is in effect until Oct. 4.
Charges against Dennis Stanley for two additional alleged violations of the restraining order involving Mrs. Stanley were continued until trial Jan. 24.
The charges stem from separate incidents later in October in which Mrs. Stanley alleged Mr. Stanley was within 100 yards of her home as he headed toward David Stanley’s house next door, at 51 Murphy’s Way.
Dennis and David Stanley are also co-owners of Driveways Corp., a paving company housed at 19 Industrial Drive, Uxbridge, the same place as the nondenominational church.
On Dec. 28 in Uxbridge District Court, Judge Vito A. Virzi dismissed charges against David Stanley related to violation of a restraining order, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace during the Oct. 1 incident at Dennis Stanley’s house.
