GARDENDALE, AL (WBRC) -
A pastor's wife who was in critical condition after a shooting and stabbing at her Gardendale home has died, according to an Associated Press report.
The Jefferson County coroner's office confirmed that Lisa Greer died at 12:38 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11. The AP says she was married to Rev. Terry Greer, the senior pastor at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Rev. Greer's bio on the church's website says he was married to the former Lisa Eidson of Scottsboro, and the couple have a daughter named Suzanna Faith Greer.
Officials have not released many details, but said that two females were shot inside a home on Country Meadow Drive in Gardendale on Thursday, Jan. 10. One female was critically injured and another was in stable condition after the shooting. Authorities said the male suspect in the case was stabbed and in critical condition. According to the AP, the man and woman are still in the hospital.
The coroner said Friday that no one else connected to the case has died so far.
Police have not released any names of the people involved, but said they all lived in the same home. The AP reports that a man is suspected of shooting the two women before stabbing himself inside the home.
Bob Alford, a district superintendent with the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church, told FOX6 News that around 3 p.m. Thursday he received a call that something involving Gardendale Mt. Vernon UMC Senior Pastor Terry Greer had happened.
Alford says he went to Greer's home where he found police presence. Alford adds that Greer has been ill for some time and may suffer from cardiovascular issues. He would not elaborate on any other details.
Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church posted a message on their Facebook page on Thursday about the "tragedy involving Pastor Terry Greer and his family." The post asks for prayer for the Greer family and the church, and says a licensed counselor will be available at the church.
A worship leader at the same church, 31-year-old Joel Kent Hodges, was recently arrested on charges of soliciting a child for sex. Officials are trying to determine if there's a link.
