That was *Patrick Noaker, *a former St. Louis public defender and SLU Law School grad, arguing against damage caps before the Indiana Supreme Court yesterday. Noaker, who represented dozens of local clergy sex abuse victims, has split from his long-time partner and launched his own firm in the Twin Cities. . .If you can’t get a meeting with Sen. *Claire McCaskill , *you might bump into her if you make reservations to fly from Reagan airport to Lambert any Thursday at 6:30 p.m., non-stop on Southwest. Begun just weeks ago, that particular flight has become one of her favorites. Last night, Mo. Attorney Gen. *Chris Koster *was also on that flight. . .A St. Louis man who just toured the *Frederick Douglass *home and historic site in D.C. reports that one of the plantations where slave-turned-orator labored as a youngster is now owned by Donald Rumsfield. *One of Douglass’ descendants is now an activist in the anti-human trafficking movement. . .Vet newsman *Bernie Hayes *asks, on his WGNU show, “Why is it that East St. Louis Mayor *Alvin Parks*often attends events on the Missouri side of the river, but St. Louis Mayor *Francis Slay *is almost never seen on the Illinois side?”. . .The studio in the long-vacant former KDNL-TV ABC30 building downtown is now serving as the set of a new talk show, “The Ripple Effect.” Host *Kristin White *describes the news-talk show as a “transformational TV,” that provides a forum for those seeking an alternative to the lack of substance found in much of today’s television programming. The weekly, 30-minute show debuts Dec. 16 and airs on Sunday mornings here and five other markets. ..On Dec. 22, the popular Liluma in the CWE will serve its last dinner before closing to make way for a steakhouse. . .The first-look at the eagerly-awaited “Star Trek into Darkness” will be shown beginning tonight at Ronnie’s 20 Cine via the first 10 minute’s of the epic. . .The Center for Responsible Politics has found that women accounted for 44 percent of the president’s campaign cash from individuals who gave more than $125 million. Only 28 percent or $97.5 million from women were earmarked for Mitt Romney’s coffers. . . Cheers for Mizzou Med School scientists who have put together the missing pieces in the puzzle for muscular dystrophy therapy and perhaps a longer life. . .Fears at WashU that the “fiscal cliff” issue could possibly result in the loss of $12.5 million for major research. Overall funding: $469 million. . . Among the many victims of the NHL lockout is NBC Group which signed a 10-year, $1.9 billion rights deal with the NHL in 2011.
