UXBRIDGE — Two people affiliated with the Church of the End Times were arraigned yesterday in Uxbridge District Court on charges of burglary and intimidating a witness. A warrant was issued for a third person.
Courtney Bish, 20, who gave her address as 19 Industrial Drive, the same address as the Church of the End Times and Driveways Corp., was arraigned on multiple charges in Northbridge, Blackstone and Sutton of breaking and entering for a felony, larceny, destruction of property and receiving stolen property ($250 or more). The alleged crimes took place in recent months.
Ms. Bish and Gina Elliott, 41, also of 19 Industrial Drive, had been arrested by Sutton police in September on other burglary-related charges. Police estimated the pair had been involved in eight to 10 burglaries in the Blackstone Valley in Massachusetts and in northern Rhode Island.
Jewelry and prescription drugs such as Vicodin had been stolen, according to court documents. Some of the jewelry has been retrieved by owners and some stolen jewelry was sold to a kiosk in the Auburn Mall, Sutton police Detective Matthew K. Bohanan has said previously.
Bail was set at $1,000 yesterday, and Ms. Bish was sent to MCI Framingham pending a pretrial conference scheduled for Nov. 27.
The court issued a warrant for Ms. Elliott, who failed to appear for arraignment on similar charges.
Also in court yesterday, Eric Matheson, 35, who lives with Church of the End Times founder David H. Stanley at 51 Murphy’s Way, paid the remainder of $500 bail set last week.
Mr. Matheson faces a charge of witness intimidation and obstructing justice related to Uxbridge police officers’ attempt to serve a warrant on Dennis H. Stanley Wednesday at the Church of the End Times. Mr. Matheson allegedly told police Mr. Stanley was not present even though Mr. Stanley could clearly be seen in the room standing behind Mr. Matheson, police said.
Mr. Matheson’s pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 28.
The Church of the End Times is a nonaffiliated evangelical church that has been the focus of controversy and police investigations. It is based at the same address as a driveway paving company.
