Church of the End Times Founder Held without Bail

A Church of the End Times founder was back in court yesterday facing two charges of violating a restraining order issued last month.

Dennis H. Stanley, 36, was held without bail at the Worcester County Jail after his arraignment and will return for a pretrial conference Nov. 6.

According to court documents, a warrant was entered by the court on Oct. 23 after Beth Ellen Stanley, from whom Mr. Stanley is separated, filed complaints that he violated the yearlong restraining order awarded Oct. 5. The order requires Mr. Stanley to stay at least 100 yards away from Mrs. Stanley's home at 41 Murphy's Way.

Mrs. Stanley alleged that Mr. Stanley has visited or attempted to visit his brother, David H. Stanley's home at 51 Murphy's Way, next door to Mrs. Stanley. The houses are less than 100 yards apart.

In her statement filed with the police complaint, Mrs. Stanley said that around 7:15 p.m. Oct. 11, while in her car at the side of Route 122, she saw a Driveways Corp. car pull over as if to let someone off right behind the Stanleys' homes. Route 122 abuts the back of the Murphy's Way properties.

She wrote that the driver apparently recognized her and drove off before stopping. She followed the car to the Uxbridge District Court parking lot, where she allegedly saw Dennis sitting in the front passenger seat.

Also, around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 21, Mrs. Stanley allegedly saw Dennis go into David Stanley's house from the rear, walking up from Route 122.

Uxbridge police went to David's house, but David told them Dennis wasn't there.

In a related incident, the court issued a warrant for Eric Matheson, 35, who listed his address as David Stanley's house, 51 Murphy's Way. Uxbridge police claim Mr. Matheson obstructed justice when they went to serve Dennis Stanley's warrant at the Church of the End Times, in Driveways Corp. at 19 Industrial Drive, around 6:15 p.m. Oct. 31.

According to court documents, Officers Josiah Morrissette, Benjamin Smoot and Thomas B. Stockwell Jr. saw in the parking lot two cars Mr. Stanley has been known to drive, a yellow Ford pickup truck and yellow Scion, both with Driveways Corp. logos.

When police knocked on the office door, Mr. Matheson told them that he was alone in the building and that Mr. Stanley was not there. However, police saw Mr. Stanley walk into the room behind Mr. Matheson.

When they motioned for Mr. Stanley to come to the door, he turned and walked out of the room.

After that, neither Mr. Matheson nor Mr. Stanley would come back to the door.
