GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Prosecutors say they expect to file more charges against a Junction City minister at the center of a growing church sex scandal.

Jordan Young, 25, is facing child molestation charges in six cases involving separate victims and officials tell 13 News he could be charged in another 4-7 cases based on allegations that have surfaced from several other victims.

Young appeared in Geary County District Court Thursday for a status hearing on his cases. WIBW’s request to have a camera inside the courtroom was denied. The hearing was continued as authorities keep building their case against Young. He was originally arrested in August after the Junction City Police Department launched an investigation into reports of sexual misconduct at the church.

Assistant Geary County Attorney Michelle Brown says state is waiting to receive test results from the KBI. The agency is testing close to 40 pieces of evidence, looking for DNA.

Brown tells WIBW that all of the victims that have come forward with allegations against Jordan Young are underage males. When asked where the crimes took place, Brown says they allegedly occurred at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church, the church's school (the Apostolic Academy on Rucker Road in Junction City) and “outside of both” of those locations. Young had been serving as the music minister for the church and would have had access to both facilities. Brown says the alleged assaults on the boys occurred over the course of several years but some of the cases are also recent.

She expects to review the new cases she’s received from Junction City police and if she does file additional charges, she expects to do it in the next 10 days. The investigation, however, is still ongoing and will be for “quite some time,” according to Brown. She says all of the “known” victims have come forward and have been identified and interviewed by police.

Young will appear in court again on November 15th at 9 AM. He is being held in the Geary County Jail on $1 million bond.

Jordan Young is the son of former Faith Tabernacle pastor Edwin Young, who reportedly recently and abruptly resigned. Sources close to Faith Tabernacle say Edwin Young took a significant amount of money from the church when he resigned before his son was arrested and reportedly left the area. Police have refused to comment on Edwin Young’s whereabouts and if he is part of the police investigation at the church.
