Here is a list of priests and other clerics who faced at least one allegation of sexual abuse in the Boston Archdiocese against someone under age 18, even if the accusation did not result in criminal charges, a lawsuit, or settlement. Included are 70 visiting clerics and members of religious orders who were omitted from the list of 159 publicly accused sexual abusers published by the archdiocese in August.
Priests who are found guilty face both criminal and canonical penalties. In additional to jail terms, they can be dismissed from the clergy, assigned to a life of prayer and penance, or laicized. According to the archdiocese, laicization "is a process whereby the cleric voluntarily requests that he be separated from the clerical state." It does not involve a determination of guilt.
Click on the name of a cleric to see a history of his assignments, where that information is available. Or, use the search below to find the accused priests who served in a specific parish or community.
NOTE: Parishes appear in this database if at least one accused priest was assigned there during his career. It does not necessarily mean the alleged sexual abuse occurred there.
