Minister Arrested Again in Church Sex Scandal

A Junction City man has been arrested for the second time this week for alleged child sex abuse.

Jordan Young, 25, was originally taken into custody at the Junction City Police Department at 11:30 AM on Monday, August 13, 2012.

Young was arrested for Aggravated Indecent Liberties With a Child, Attempted Criminal Sodomy and Solicitation of a Child.

He was still in the Geary County Jail on Friday, August 17, 2012 and being held on a $250,000 bond from his first arrest when he was re-arrested on additional charges- Aggravated Criminal Sodomy, Aggravated Indecent Liberties With a Child and Sexual Solicitation of a Child.

Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown said Friday that Young's arrests stem from an ongoing investigation into information his department received about a local church.

Brown has released few details on the case, calling the church probe "sensitive" because of the allegations involving children.

At this point, it is unclear how many victims have come forward or how old they are.

Jordan Young had been serving as the music minister at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church on Burke Drive in Junction City. Those close to the church say he also worked in the youth ministry.

He is the son of former Faith Tabernacle pastor Edwin Young, who reportedly recently and abruptly resigned.

Nathan Dudley, who has taken over as pastor of the church in the midst of the controversy, told WIBW this week: "At this time, all that we can say is that there were allegations of misconduct that were presented to us and we immediately turned the information that we had received over to the proper authorities and they began a very thorough investigation of their own which we are fully cooperating with."

Dudley says counselors are being brought in for church members who feel they need to speak to one.

Jordan Young has been assigned an attorney with the Public Defender's Office. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a hearing stemming from his first arrest. Chief Brown said Young will also make a first appearance after his second arrest and new charges this weekend or on Monday.
