"You're a miserable, rotten piece of slime…I feel like breaking your bones and I hope you rot in prison. I want to kill you over and over again," a victim, who was five when Sabo began molesting him in 2001 and who is now 16-years-old, wrote in a letter read aloud in court by his father. Sabo molested the boy for five years. "While pretending to be our family and pretending to be nice, he was sexually abusing my sister. This is the true definition of a sociopath. You ruined her childhood, and perhaps her whole life," the older sister of a now 12-year-old victim seethed. "You are a monster." Sabo began sexually abusing the girk when she was six years old girl and continued for at least three years. Sabo, a 38-year-old nurse who went to Yeshiva Torah Temimah, the school where notorious pedophile Rabbi Yehuda Kolko taught for decades, pleaded guilty earlier this month to sexually assaulting the children and for possessing a large amount of kiddie porn. According to prosecutors, the family of a third victim didn't cooperate with the prosecution because of their fear of reprisals from within their haredi community, and a fourth victim backed out just before the trial. Prosecutors also say they have evidence of at least five other victims, some of whom refused to cooperate with the prosecution due to intimidation from the haredi community. Prosecutor Kevin O'Donnell said that the relatives of the 12-year-old girl were pressured in their synagogue by supporters of Sabo. They threatened to pack the courtroom during the girl's testimony to embarrass and intimidate her. "Despite this shameful act," O'Donnell said, "these children and their parents still had the courage to come to court." Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent DelGiudice complained that the deal offered by prosecutors was "lenient." Sabo could have been sentenced to hundreds of years in prison for the sexual abuse and for 120 counts of possessing child pornography. "There is a duty for all adults to protect our children," Justice Del Giudice said Monday. "And the only way they can be protected is if they cooperate with law enforcement," in remarks apparently directed to the haredi community. Sabo was exposed after a rabbi was given a photograph of a tied-up boy. It took the rabbi two years to track down the boy's family. Sabo's attorney Jeffrey Schwartz said Sabo had been abused as a child and, while calling his client a "monster," also said Sabo was a victim. "Before he evolved into this monster, he, too, was a frightened young kid," Schwartz said.
