Catholic Priest Set for Trial on Sexual Battery Charge

The Rev. Allen Kent Scheer, a priest at Sacred Heart Cathedral, pleaded not guilty Friday in Saline County District Court to a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery.

His trial is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 15.

Scheer is accused of inappropriately touching an adult male "with the intent to arouse or satisfy sexual desires" on April 12 in the man’s central Salina residence, according to court records.
