Patrick J. Lott, 54, an assistant Principal of Bernardsville Middle school is being charged with videotaping boys in school showers. According to reports, Lott was videotaping boys at the Roman Catholic Immaculata High School bathing area on and off again for three years. Lott was a volunteer at Immaculata High School and he now faces multiple charges of second, third, fourth degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth degree invasion of privacy. The alleged video tapings occurred between January 1, 2008 to December 13, 2011. New Jersey's Daily Record reported, "Members of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16 executed Superior Court search warrants at Lott's home on Eastern Avenue in Somerville, seizing several videos of nude boys showering together, according to court papers. "Detectives subsequently located an area in the high school where a video camera had been installed surreptitiously for recording, the filings indicate." There are a total of 15 victims. Nine of the 15 victims were under the age of 16. Lott was first caught after Immaculata reported to police that Lott was engaging in "inappropriate conduct". A statement from Diocese said, "The Diocese of Metuchen and Immaculata High School are continuing to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in the ongoing investigation. The Diocese of Metuchen has also begun to assist Immaculata High School in reexamining its policies and procedures for protecting children," the statement read. "Immaculata High School is blessed with educators who exemplify Catholic values and educational professionalism. We pray that this situation will not undermine the confidence and trust students, families and community place in these individuals. We offer, in all sincerity, our prayers for all who are affected in this matter." Lott also served as a chairman of Somerville's Republican Committee. Lott's bail is set at $500,000. |
