Chaput is expected to warn area Catholics of what could be a year filled with serious financial issues. News of the letter came from the Philadelphia Inquirer, which reported Saturday it was to be read to all perishes. A two-page letter, dated December 8, was posted on the Archdiocese website, which warned of "serious financial and organizational issues that cannot be delayed." "These are not simply business issues; they go to the heart of our ability to carry out our Catholic ministries," Chaput wrote. In the letter, Chaput says the archdiocesan Blue Ribbon Commission is scheduled to provide recommendations on Catholic education, which could lead to the combining or closing of some schools.
