ANCHORAGE, Alaska—

Anchorage police arrested a man Thursday for the alleged sexual abuse of two girls, ages 5 and 9, who were neighbors of his in Mountain View. Officials say one of the girls told police he threatened to kill her if she ever told anybody about the abuse.

Leonardo “Nutbush” Lovette II is facing charges including eight counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of third-degree assault and one count of first-degree indecent exposure.

Detectives conducted an investigation of the incident, then served both search and arrest warrants on Lovette’s home.

Lovette had contact with neighborhood children as an after-school tutor and also possibly at a church on Debarr Road, leading detectives to believe additional victims may not have reported being abused. Children may know Lovette by his nickname.

Anyone with information about further abuse by Lovette should call Detective Torres in APD’s Crimes Against Children Unit at 786-8573.
