Jerry Sandusky is arrested at his home today.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Accused child molester Jerry Sandusky was transported to jail Wednesday after being arrested on additional charges of child sexual abuse.

Sandusky, 67, was taken into custody at his home earlier Wednesday by the Attorney General's Office and Pennsylvania State Police.

A judge then set the former Penn State defensive coordinator's bail at $250,000 cash and ordered electronic monitoring. But Sandusky was remanded to the Centre County Jail after being unable to immediately put up the money.

Prosecutors reportedly argued for the bail to be set at $1 million.

Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, said he expected his client to be arrested and was prepared for it. He termed it "unfortunate" that the police opted to arrest Sandusky at his home, rather than allow him to turn himself in.

Amendola said he believes Sandusky will be able to post bail, but expects his client to spend at least one night in jail.

Sandusky, who left his house wearing Penn State athletics attire, had remained free on a $100,000 unsecured bond since being charged last month with sexually assaulting eight boys over a 15-year period.

"Today's criminal charges were recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury, based on evidence and testimony that was received following the initial arrest of Sandusky on November 5th," Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said in a release.

The latest charges stem from grand jury testimony from two additional young men, identified as Victim 9 and Victim 10.

"As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of 'grooming' victims," Kelly said, "Beginning with outings to football games and gifts; they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults."

According to the new grand jury report, Victim 9 met Sandusky in approximately 2004 when he was 11 or 12. He testified to meeting the former coach through The Second Mile, the nonprofit organization founded by Sandusky in 1977 to help disadvantaged children.

Kelly said Sandusky allegedly took the boy to numerous Penn State football games and gave him gifts and money.

According to the report, Sandusky first engaged in "hugging, rubbing, cuddling and tickling" during overnight visits at Sandusky's home, but those "contacts, initially viewed by the victim as simple acts of affection, escalated to sexual acts."

During one of the alleged assaults, Victim 9 screamed from the basement of the Sandusky home, knowing Sandusky's wife was home, but there was no response, the presentment stated.

Victim 10 testified he met Sandusky through The Second Mile in 1997 when he was 10 years old. The alleged victim said Sandusky often engaged him in wrestling sessions in the basement of his home, which led to sexual acts.

Sandusky, who abruptly retired from the Penn State football team in 1999, is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 13. He has maintained his innocence.

The scandal engulfed the Penn State community and led to the firing of longtime football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier. Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz have both been charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse.
