The long-awaited report from the National Board for the Safeguarding of Children regarding the Diocese of Raphoe is to be released tomorrow morning (Wednesday, November 30) at 10am.
The report will be published on the diocesan website Raphoe Diocese at approximately 10 am.
Bishop Philip Boyce will then officiate at the launch of the report at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre Hall in Letterkenny at 11.30am.
PR Consultant Michael Keane, from Insight Consultants, has been employed to act as "diocesan consultant" on the matter.He explained yesterday (Monday) that the report is an audit of the church's procedures and is not a detailed report of individual cases."It's not like the Cloyne or the Murphy Report where there will be huge chapters on all sorts of terrible deeds done by priests. It's an audit of procedures that were in place over the years and how, obviously, there were mistakes made, and to ensure that the right procedures are in place now and that children are safeguarded," Mr Keane stated.
