Fr Dan Duane (73) had denied a charge of indecently assaulting the now middle-aged woman at an address in Cork in the summer of 1980. Fr Duane -- of the Presbytery, Cecilstown, Mallow, Co Cork -- insisted that the woman's allegations were "invented". Suchet on wife's Alzheimer's Former television newsreader John Suchet has said he is "building a life" five years after his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Suchet (67) first spoke out about the illness two years ago when he said it had "taken" Bonnie, his wife of 24 years, away from him. He said: "You don't expect things to get better. They will only get worse. Her eyes light up when she sees me, but I have no idea if she knows who I am. But without diminishing it, or putting her to one side in any way, I am building a life." Man smuggled stolen vodka A former mechanic who agreed to store smuggled vodka in return for €1,600 after his business went bust has avoided a jail term. Sean Murphy (55) of St John's drive, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to handling a stolen case of vodka worth €46,000 at Glebe House, Crumlin Village, on August 4, 2010. Garda Aidan Dunleavy said that Murphy had agreed to store the vodka in the "honest belief" that it was smuggled. Judge Yvonne Murphy sentenced him to two years imprisonment but suspended the entire sentence. NATO raid kills Pakistan troops NATO helicopters from Afghanistan have intruded into northwest Pakistan and attacked a military check post near the border, killing eight troops and wounding four, Pakistani intelligence officials said. The attack comes as relations between the United States and Pakistan, its ally in the war on terror, are already strained following the killing of al-Qa'ida leader Osama bin Laden.
