HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -
Members of a Henderson church are speaking out following the resignation of youth minister, who was arrested on sexual abuse charges.
John Brothers Junior, 42, was arrested Friday night.
He was the Associate Pastor and minister to students at Hyland Baptist Church. Church officials say he worked there for three years, and resigned on November 11.
Deacon Frank Chandler calls the events quote, "totally out of the ordinary" and says the church family is trying to move forward.
"Just in about the best way you can, you know. You never really prepare for anything like this. So, just take it one day at a time."
Brothers is awaiting trial in Henderson County Detention Center.
The church tells us they're currently searching for a new pastor.
