STOCKTON, Calif. (KCRA) -- Rev. Michael Kelly faces a civil suit in the alleged molestation of a boy in the 1980s in Stockton.

The victim's attorneys asked the judge in the case to open sealed records of the Catholic priest, which include medical and psychological records.

Attorney Vince Finaldi said the public had a right to know, as a prevention against sexual predators.

Kelly's attorneys argued such records were private and to unseal them would be an invasion of privacy. Kelly continues as pastor of St. Joachim's Church in Lockeford.

The Catholic Diocese of San Joaquin concluded earlier that the charges were not credible, and Kelly passed a lie-detector test, as well.

The judge set a trial date for Feb. 14.
