INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana Court of Appeals has denied a woman's demand for additional money after being sexually abused by a Priest.

The woman, who is now 50, was sexually abused by a Roman Catholic priest when she was a teenager.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis paid for all of the woman's therapy and counseling fees for nearly eight years.

At some point, the Archdiocese determined that some of the woman's counseling sessions were not helping the woman with her recovery. One of the health providers agreed to reduce the frequency of the counseling sessions and the Archdiocese decided to reduce its payments accordingly.

The woman brought suit and a trial court determined, among other things, that the Archdiocese was voluntarily paying for the woman's counseling sessions out of a "moral obligation" to do so.

The appeals court agrees with the trial court that the Archdiocese has no legal responsibility to continue paying all of the woman's continuing therapy costs.
