Mullin: Sandusky Still Causing Pain to Victims Comcast Sportsnet November 15, 2011 www.csnchicago.com/ncaa/news/Mullin-Sandusky-still-causing-pain-to-vi?blockID=594444&feedID=630 The spectre of Jerry Sandusky saying he is completely innocent of misdeeds, beyond some showering with young boys, is angering. Sandusky, interviewed by NBC's Bob Costas Monday, is saying that Joe Paterno needn't have volunteered to retire sooner than planned in a preemptive strike; that Penn State President Graham Spanier didn't need to be fired; two senior Penn State officials needn't have been charged with perjury; that the executive director of his Second Mile foundation of 28 years didn't have to resign; because he, Sandusky, is innocent, after all, and just "horsed around" with kids. Worst of all, he is putting the victims on trial, their credibility, their lives, possibly needing to go over all of their experiences again as part of some criminal proceeding or other investigations. It's not enough that they may have been through therapy and worse; now, after coming forward with likely the most painful experience of their lives, they have to hear Sandusky maintain that it never happened. |
