Former Green Bay Bishop Denies Sexual Assault Allegation WBAY October 6, 2011 www.wbay.com/story/15627415/2011/10/05/former-green-bay-bishop-denies
Former Green Bay Bishop David Zubik denies an accusation he sexually assaulted a Catholic school student in the 1980s. Now the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Zubik went public with the allegation Wednesday at a news conference. A former student at a Catholic high school in Pennsylvania where Zubik served from 1980 to 1987 claims Zubik forced him against a wall and tried to kiss him. "I emphatically state no such behavior occurred nor any semblance of such behavior," Bishop Zubik said. "The accusation is false, offensive, and outrageous." Beaver County, Pennsylvania, District Attorney Anthony Berosh released a statement Wednesday, "I can assure you, based on 30 years of experience, I have never heard of a more convoluted, extenuated series of stories in order to justify the recollection of the now-made allegations against the Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh." The Pittsburgh Diocese has turned over the investigation to a Pennsylvania district attorney's office, authorities at the Vatican, and the independent Diocesan Review Board. |
