	Warrior Man Convicted of Sexual Abuse over 7-year Span By Melynda Sides Fox 6 September 15, 2011 http://blountcounty.myfoxal.com/news/crime/95879-warrior-man-convicted-sexual-abuse-over-7-year-span A man from Warrior has been sentenced for sodomy and sexual abuse of a victim he began abusing when the boy was eight years old. Last week a Blount County jury found Anthony Papineau, 44, guilty of sexual crimes that occurred over a seven year period, until the victim was 15 years old and reported the abuse to authorities. Papineau was an employee of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Gardendale while the abuse was taking place. A priest and a special agent who arrested Papineua after tracking him down in Utah testified in the case. Papineua fled to Utah in 2009 after the boy he was abusing reported him. A special agent and U.S. Marshal arrested him in June 2010. “Papineau is a sexual predator. He gained this young boy’s trust as a ploy to use him for his own sexual desires. I admire the strength and courage the victim showed. We must protect the children of this county from the Papineuas of the world,” Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said. “The jury was out less than 30 minutes, which shows the evidence in this case was overwhelming.” Papineau was sentenced today to 40 years for first degree sodomy and 10 years for first degree sexual abuse.
