	Ex-chaplain Leslie Carter Faces Jail over Child Sex Abuse BBC News September 13, 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14899618 A former Anglican chaplain has been warned he faces a likely jail sentence after pleading guilty to several indecent assaults on boys in his care. Leslie Carter, 84, of Bath, admitted nine indecent assaults against three boys between 1957 and 1977. The first boy was assaulted when Carter was chaplain to St George's School in Cape Town, Harrow Crown Court heard. His other victims were abused after his appointment in 1968 to Quainton Hall School in Harrow, north-west London. 'Abused trust' His Honour Judge Graham White warned Carter he was keeping "all options open" ahead of sentencing on 19 October. He said: "You pleaded guilty to what are very serious offences involving the sexual abuse of young boys who were in your charge. "You abused your position of trust both as a priest and a teacher. "I have to tell you that all sentencing options remain open and that a sentence of imprisonment is the most likely outcome." Justin Bearman, prosecuting, told the court that Carter had returned from South Africa to the UK in 1962 and taken up a post of school chaplain at Quainton Hall six years later. Summing up the case against Carter, he said: "The defendant... used his position of respect, his position as an Anglican priest and a school teacher to breach that trust in the most devastating way possible towards these three young men over an extensive period of time."
