WESTERVILLE -- A woman who went to a pastor at Vineyard Church, located on Cooper Road, for counsel is now accusing him of committing sexual abuse.

ABC6/Fox28 News' Carol Luper reports Thursday that Pastor Steven Robbins currently faces two more charges. If the church denies responsibility, then the counseling itself may have been a violation of Ohio law.

In the lawsuit, the woman, who is referred to as "Jane Doe," says Robbins counseled her for two years at Vineyard Columbus. She says he diagnosed her as a sex addict -- and, had an affair with her.

The woman's lawyer, Edwin Hollern, said, "He simply took advantage of that … revved up her addiction … with his questions and demeanor. I don't think you can call that consensual."

Hollern says he's filed additional charges that claim Vineyard knew Robbins was counseling the woman among his duties as pastor. Or, that he was doing it outside of his pastoral responsibilities, which would be breaking the law.

"You can't have it both ways! Either he's doing this with the approval of the leadership of the church, or he's an unlicensed counselor!"

Luper went to Pastor Robbins home Thursday. The man who came to the door said he had no comment to make and did not open the door.

Vineyard's senior pastor says pastors are allowed to counsel people because they are pastors. He says he hasn't seen the lawsuit yet and did not want to discuss the matter any further.
