The piece by veteran church observer Robert McClory of Chicago, also claims that the diocesan annual appeal is down $500,000 from when Braxton took over in 2005. Part of the reason, the story suggests is Braxton’s continuing battle against a clergy abuse victim, Jim Wisniewski, who won a $5 million jury verdict against church officials in 2008.
