Mr Quinn is meeting with some of the religious orders involved in the controversial 2002 indemnity deal for abuse victims. The minister wants the religious orders to turn over the ownership of schools in order to make up the massive ˆ200m gap in their contribution to the fund. This ensures there will be a 50:50 share of the bill between the taxpayer and the church authorities going forward. But it remains to be seen if the 18 religious orders invited to the crunch meeting in the Department of Education actually turn up.
