BERLIN, CONNECTICUT-A member of the Franciscan Friars, who once taught at St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, is under arrest in Connecticut for alleged misconduct involving a minor.

Father Michael Miller, 41, was charged by the Berlin Police Department with five counts of risk of injury/impairing the morals of a minor, a felony, and one count of criminal attempt to obscenity, a misdemeanor.

Because the case involves a child under the age of 16, the case has been ordered sealed by the court and no other information can be released at this time.

Father Miller taught at St. Francis in 1993 and again from 2000-2003. The Buffalo Diocese learned of the arrest on Tuesday. The diocese, the Franciscan Friars and the high school are unaware of any allegations of misconduct against him during his time at St. Francis.

Father Miller had been an assistant pastor at St. Paul Parish in Kensington, Connecticut since 2006. The provincial of the Franciscan Friars Conventual has suspended him from all public ministry.

The priest is currently free after posting bail of $150,000 and is due back in New Britain Superior Court on July 26th.
