MANTECA – Roger Earl Rickman appeared in Manteca Superior Court today for his arraignment on child molestation charges. The 65-year-old Tracy man appeared in Manteca court with James Fonda, an attorney he hired himself, before Judge Ron Northup. Deputy District Attorney Elton Trau appeared on the behalf of the prosecution. Rickman is charged with three counts of oral copulation and four counts of lewd acts upon a 7-year-old child. Police became aware of the allegations after the child's mother called police June 20. The woman told investigators that the girl said their church pastor, later identified as Rickman, would have her use a vibrating tool in his car when he drove her home from school. Rickman is reportedly the founder and senior pastor of the First Anointing Faith International Christian Church, which conducts services on weekends in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1537 at 1960 N. Tracy Blvd. Rickman is also the Master Chaplain for the VFW and the American Legion Post 172. The court issued a criminal protective order, forcing Rickman to stay away from the alleged victim. He remains in custody in San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on $1.75 million bail. Rickman is due back in Manteca Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. July 5 for further arraignment and a bail review hearing. |
