A PERVERT from Pather is facing jail after admitting grooming a schoolgirl on the internet.
Twisted Kevin Connell (29), who lives on Lomond Drive, convinced the teenager to strip naked and expose herself on a webcam.
Connell appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, where he admitted pretending to be 19-years-old and befriending the then 15-year-old from Hampshire in September 2008 on the Bebo social networking site.
From then until January 2009 he regularly communicated with the teenager, encouraging her to carry out indecent acts.
Connell pleaded guilty to using lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the girl. These included sending her electronic messages of a sexually explicit nature, inducing her to remove her clothing also to take indecent photographs and video recordings of herself.
He got the girl to send him these indecent photos and video recordings and also had her connect a camera to a computer where images of her could be recorded and transmitted and viewed by him.
The girl ended the relationship and informed her parents of what had happened.
Police then raided Connell's home and seized computer equipment he had used to contact the girl.
He pleaded not guilty to possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child, which was accepted by the Crown.
Sheriff Douglas Brown deferred sentence until June 22, for a social inquiry report, a risk assessment report and a community service assessment.
Connell's bail was continued.
A number of Pather residents contacted the Wishaw Press to express their disgust at Connell's actions.
One woman said: "I think it's shocking that this beast Kevin Connell is out on bail – especially as he lives near to a school.
"What he did with that young girl is absolutely disgusting.
"Everyone around here hopes he gets a jail sentence for his disgraceful behaviour. It's no more than he deserves."
